Le Monténégro participe au Concours Eurovision depuis 2007. En 2004 et 2005, le pays avait concouru conjointement avec la Serbie, à laquelle il était alors uni, sous le titre de Serbie-et-Monténégro.
Depuis 2007, le Monténégro a manqué deux éditions du concours, en 2010 et en 2011, pour des raisons financières. Depuis ses débuts, le Monténégro a participé à deux finales du concours : en 2014 et en 2015. Le meilleur classement du pays demeure jusqu’à présent la treizième place de Knez, en 2015.
