Reconduit en 2021, James Newman représentera donc le Royaume-Uni sur la scène de l’Eurovision pour la première fois depuis le Brexit avec son dynamique titre Embers.
Né en 1985 à 80km au nord de Manchester, James Newman compose ses premières chansons avec son frère, le célèbre John Newman. À l’âge de 20 ans, il s’installe à Londres pour tenter sa chance. Reconnu pour ses talents d’auteur-compositeur, il remporte en 2013 un Brit Award pour le Single anglais de l’année pour avoir co-écrit le titre Waiting All Night interprété par Rudimental et Ella Eyre. Il co-écrit également avec son frère et Calvin Harris le hit Blame interprété par Calvin Harris, featuring John. James a également travaillé avec de nombreuses stars parmi lesquels Ed Sheeran (Lay It All On Me), Toni Braxton (Coping) ou encore Kesha (Let’Em Talk).

Les résultats du Royaume-Uni :
Depuis l’instauration des demi-finales en 2004, le Royaume-Uni a été qu’une seule fois dans le top 10 du concours, c’était en 2009, où Jade Ewen avec la chanson It’s my Time, a terminé 5ème du classement. Le Royaume-Uni participe au Concours Eurovision 1957 et l’a remporté à cinq reprises.
